Also we will provide camping tips on these pages so that we can help you to properly plan areas such as travelling, items needed
Outback Camper Trailer
to be taken along, clothing and other useful items.
As well as Caravans, Camper Trailers are also very popular here in Australia and this is the Outfit that we have selected since coming here as we have now retired and as I commented "I have had enough of towing a couple of tons of caravan behind me".
We have taken it on a 5 week tour of Queensland. Travelling up the coast as far as Cook Town in the north. Returning to Cairns and then continuing west to the bottom of the Gulf of Carpentaria to Karumba. From there to Mount Isa to enjoy the Agricultural Show. It was here that we had our only blemish on the tour. When we returned to the Nissan X-Trail in the carpark, we discovered that some local miscreant had made off wih our fishing rods mounted on the roof in a PVC pipe.
Hall of Fame

We continued back east to Cloncurry and then south through Winton to Longreach, the home of the Outback Hall of Fame. A marvelous exhibition not to be missed. Then on to Barcaldine down the Matilda Highway to Blackhall, Charleville, Cunnamulla and then back over the New  South Wales border to Bourke, Nyngan, Dubbo, Orange, Bathurst, Lithgow. Then over the Blue Mountains to Richmond, Windsor and back home to north-west  Sydney. All together some 8500 kms. We enjoyed every minute of the tour which just the two of us undertook.
We planned our trip fairly well and booked up in front as we went along. We planned our travelling days to cover no more than 500 to 600 kms a day. leaving after breakfast and arriving by no later than late afternoon. How long we stayed at each stop varied depending on what was to be seen in the particular area. The secret is not to travel too far each day so you never tire, which is one of the main causes of accidents in this very large country.
Planning your camping trip could take a very long time depending on the length of the trip and the amount of time you are able to put into the planning of your trip. However there are many resources at your disposal and one of them is a trip planner such as Travel Australia Guide Another available source is nomad notes which will help you in recording your adventure around Australia and contains all the information you need for an unforgetable driving, camping and travel adventure in Australia. In oder to protect your luggage and cameras etc, you may wish to consider this.
